And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
