'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
