The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
