The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
