The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
