(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
