The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
