The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
