The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
