'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
