'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
