'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 “And with gardens and water-springs.” 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
