'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, "Do you not fear?" 124 "I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you." 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
