The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
