The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
