The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
