The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
