Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 140
