Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
