The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
