The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
