Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
