Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 For this I ask of you no wage; my wage falls only upon the Lord of the Worlds. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
