Thamud denied the messengers 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 In these gardens and these springs, 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they cruelly slaughtered her - and then they had cause to regret it: 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
