Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 And I ask of you no hire therefor; MY hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 and that you will [always be able to] hew dwellings out of the mountains with [the same] great skill?" 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
