Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their fellowman Saleh said to them, “Do you not fear?” 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 "Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] in the midst of what you have here and now? 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 “And do not touch her with evil intentions for the punishment of the Great Day will seize you.” 156 But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159
