The Thamud belied the sent ones 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said: "You are only of those bewitched! 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
