The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 "Do you think that you will remain here peacefully forever 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 and pay no heed to the counsel of those who are given to excesses 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159

Notes and Instructions
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
