Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 among gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They said: "You are only of those bewitched! 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
