The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 I am for you an honest Messenger. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] in the midst of what you have here and now? 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 And dwellings hewed out of mountains ingeniously? 149 Therefor keep your duty to Allah and obey me, 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 “And do not touch her with evil intentions for the punishment of the Great Day will seize you.” 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
