Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 Thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! Come, then, forward with a token [of thy mission] if thou art a man of truth!" 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
