Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
