Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 143 so fear you God, and obey you me.' 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? 148 and that you will [always be able to] hew dwellings out of the mountains with [the same] great skill?" 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right." 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
