Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 among gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 And hew ye out houses in the mountains skilfully! 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 And do not obey the bidding of the extravagant, 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
