The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 "Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] in the midst of what you have here and now? 146 In these gardens and these springs, 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
