[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
