The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
