[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
