The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
