The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 We destroyed the others 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
