The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
