The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
