The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said: If you desist not, O Lut! you shall surely be of those who are expelled. 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
