The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 We therefore rescued him and his entire family. 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
