The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
