[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And rained on them a shower (of Stones). How terrible was the rain (that fell) on those who had been warned! 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
