[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
