The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
