The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
