The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
